I am a microbial oceanographer and polar ecologist specializing in the roles microbes play in biogeochemistry and marine ecology. I've sailed more than 500 days at sea, and spent more than 9 months in the Central Arctic Ocean. I led Team Ecosystem of the MOSAiC Expedition to capture the pulse of Arctic life. My current work aims to enhance the role science plays in shaping our connection to the natural environment and strives to call us into action.
